BIPAR Working Memo:
The Artificial Intelligence Act

Executive summary

On January 26th, European lawmakers reached a provisional agreement on the Regulation establishing harmonized rules on artificial intelligence (AI legislation). The provisional agreement must now be formally adopted by the European Parliament and the Council before being published in the Official Journal of the EU.

When it comes into effect, the AI legislation will impose requirements on providers and users of AI systems. It adopts a risk-based approach and imposes requirements based on the level of risk of an AI system or its use. We believe that insurance intermediaries using AI in their professional activities could be subject to this legislation as ‘deployers’ of AI systems and should comply with the corresponding requirements..

BIPAR has updated its memo on AI legislation to reflect the provisional agreement reached. We invite you to share your questions or comments with us via info@apcal.lu.
